Concrete Walkway & Bluestone Patio, Philadelphia.

About This Project

An outdoor living package: a poured concrete walkway ramping from the sidewalk, a bluestone flagstone patio set around the yard's existing tree, and new French doors cut into the stone facade to connect the house to all of it.

Concrete and hardscape are two different trades that have to meet perfectly — the walkway's pour, pitch, and finish on one side, the flagstone's pattern and joints on the other. The videos in the gallery show the result the way photos can't: walk the patio yourself.

Exterior work like this is weather-window work. We sequenced demolition, base prep, pour, and stone set so the yard was never torn up longer than it had to be.
